ButYouDontLookSick.com New Gift Ideas for Babies and New Moms

Are you going to a baby shower this spring?

Being a new mom, and being in a circle of friends where it seems like everyone is pregnant, or has just become a mom I have been to my fair share of baby showers. I have to admit sometimes it gets boring to see the mother to be open the same ol’ gifts one after another. If I see one more diaper cake, or baby blanket I just might scream. Don’t get me wrong people should appreciate any gift they get for themselves or their child, but I have found that the gifts that get the biggest smiles are the new, different, interesting, truly helpful, or unique. I love gifts that make the crowd of woman “oooh!’. I like giving gifts that people say “where did you get that!?” Well here are some of my new favorite gifts to give to babies, kids and new moms. To make this list even better for those of you who shop from home, they are all available on the internet, at easy to use websites. Why wait on long lines, find a parking space with the price of gas, when with a few clicks you can now be the gift giver everyone will want to invite to their next party!

Products for an Invisibly-Ill Pregnancy and First Year

There I was, pregnant in Germany with no family, friends or even an unpacked house. My husband was in Kosovo on a peacekeeping tour for 6 months and my flares got worse and worse. I was having Braxton-Hicks already in my second month and even when my husband did come home he was of limited use at best. How did I get through pregnancy and that first year? Not just luck! I had some of the best products and knowledge at my disposal. Here are my Top Picks for both pregnancy and then the first year! Twenty products and tips you cannot live without and why!

Product Review: The First Years’ Hand-Free Baby Gate

So, not knowing the specifics of what we were getting into, we picked out some baby gates prior to our baby’s arrival. Once it came time to put those gates into action (our child was so active, it came very early in his life,) we realized that what seemed to be a simple latch, now would not suffice.

Product Review: The Baby Sharmooz Baby Satin Headrest

After dealing with my own hair loss, due to the medications I am on for Lupus, I am extra sensitive to any hair issues. When I saw my baby daughter with bald spots from lying in her crib on her back, I was upset. Even though she did not know the difference, I noticed and strangers and family members noticed as well. I was looking for something that would help, and I found "The Baby Sharmooz". As always, I love supporting other work at home moms, so when I learned that this was a mom-invented product I was thrilled.

Product Review: bitsybowsandtinsyties.com no slip hair bows for little girls

Bitsy Bows & Tinsy Ties is a family owned business. As usual, I love to shop at and help promote work at home moms. Tiffani is the owner, and she makes every product with great care. I love handmade items and I wish I could make bows that match every one of my little girl's outfits, but with arthritis in my hands, it would be close to
impossible for me to make tiny bows. If you are like me and are limited because of your disability, consider shopping with her. You can still get quality handmade items, even if you can not make them yourself!

Product Review: Momworks Inc. Attachable Photo Albums

These attachable photo books are the perfect gift for anyone with a child. I love the bright ribbon that attaches to the baby's highchair or car seat. I know first hand that baby's like to throw things, or drop them. So this added feature was proof that this product was invented by a mom!

Product Review: Baby Safety Gates from micahco.com

Well our little one is beginning to crawl, and before I know it she will be running all over the house! I started to look for baby safety gates not only for her safety, but for my energy. I do not want her to fall down stairs etc, but I also know that I do not have the energy to run all over the house following her. The idea of keeping her safe in one or two rooms at a time, seems like a good one for both of us.

Product Review: baby shoes and more from brodiegirl.com

I was looking for something a little bit more fun then the typical baby shoes that look like white sneakers or white sandals. We have never been a bland, boring, or vanilla white family and we were looking for soft soled shoes since our baby is not walking yet. We love to have fun with bold colors and fun designs, so I was so happy when I went to brodiegirl.com. We picked out the cutest slip-on shoes. They have tons of designs to choose from so we chose the pink shoes with little skull and crossbones on them, and black shoes with rockin' guitars. These shoes are sold for about $24 USD.

Product Review: Time4felt.com children's toys

Story Time felts are a wonderful, new creative way of telling stories and encouraging imagination with your child. There is a felt back board with a scene on it and then felt "puppets" to help tell the story. The fabric is great for younger children to learn textures and free play, while older children will love making up stories with these unique play toys.

Product Reviews: Unique and Personal Kid's Products from OliveKids.com

I had another great shopping experience with our friends at OliveKids.com. Olive Kids designs kids bedding , kids lamps, borders, kids clocks, kids rugs, kids bedroom accessories and personalized kids products to help create a fun and creative room for kids. No TV characters, just fun, colorful kids bedding for boys and girls at a great price! I love that they do not cater only to the "mainstream cartoons" for bedroom decor. I feel like the way fads come and go... why not go with something that might last a bit more time, and that might encourage creativity and fun. I know from personal experience that it can be very costly to find quality items for a child's bedroom. So I think it is a smart financial choice to buy something with a theme they can grow with, rather then be stifled by the limitations of one character. They have some really cute design themes and some of my personal favorites are flowerland, tea party and Happily Ever for girls. Or how about out of this world, something fishy, or Dinosaur land for your boy's room.

Product Review: The Handy Burpee TM

The Handy Burpee TM is a wonderfully unique mom-invented burp cloth, which puts an end to ever having to hunt for your burp cloth again and also saves your hands from getting spit up on. I liked this product right away for two
reasons. The first being, it supported a work at home mom, which to me is always a good thing. Secondly, I know many people including myself who have skin sensitivities, and this product addresses that issue.

Product Review: tottooparlor.com Baby and Kids Clothes

I think I am going to go broke! I have a new shopping addiction. I just had a baby and thought I would be sick of pink and lace and "babyish" clothes. I am so happy I found tottooparlor.com. I think I may be addicted. I love that the styles and patterns are all clothes that I would wear or pick out and now I can find "matching" stuff for my daughter! I think that many times when you become a mom, there are certain expectations of how you should dress, or your baby should dress. I think it is so much fun to keep your individual style, still be a "mom" and pass that unique style on to your kids. If you do not stay "true to who you are" and what you like, how can you expect your kids to?

Product Review: Roslyn's Closet Baby and Toddler Clothes

I recently had the opportunity to see some of the clothes and gifts from Roslyn's Closet. All of the clothes, which includes a wide selection of onesies, T shirts and hats, have unique, hand-drawn illustrations on them. The custom-made clothing is unlike anything I have seen before. So many times I have visited the conventional chain stores for baby gifts and feel like everything looks the same. This store is totally creative and refreshingly different.
