 Re: Marijuana
Honestly I'm not sure what to say. First, it depends where you live and if your doctor is willing to prescribe it. Whatever you and your doctor decide on, please be careful.

 Re: Marijuana
Try looking up nabilone - it's a drug that I believe is based on Cannabis.

 Re: Marijuana
I honestly can't say as I have never tried it, for any reason although I know it is supposed to help with Glaucoma and Some Cancer issues (like nausea etc).
Be very careful as it is an illegal drug in most places unless prescribed by your doctor (and then it is in a different form usually).

 Re: Marijuana
Keep in mind I am in Canada. It is being prescribed here for lots of pain, in the pill form. I do know people who swear by it. They still function, and it's not a pill that gets you high, so you can still function and not get silly.
I asked my doctor, he said I'm not well enough for it yet.

 Re: Marijuana
It is not legal here in CT at this time...
My mom and I talked about giving it a shot if it becomes legal...I probably wouldn't be able to have it on campus so it would be something for after I graduate.
it would help with pain, GI problems and sleep problems in my case...and I've heard a lot of great things about it. Some places have clinics (where it's legal) and there are different ways you can take it in etc.

 Re: Marijuana
i live in oregon where medical marijuana laws exist to protect the sick from arrest. i have eds, am allergic to ibprofin, sensitive to aspirin and am a recovering alcoholic so tylenol is ill advised. i am sensitive to many drugs so handle my pain issues with cannabis suspended in oils (glycerin upsets my stomach and can't do alcohol)... grape seed, coconut, hemp seed, i am experimenting. to titrate i use a vaporizer. when pain is severe, i massage oil into my skin then soak in hot water to improve penetration. only occasionally do i have to resort to vicodin. i am so thankful for this non toxic herb that makes life tolerable. if you are in a compassionate state, do give this natural alternative a chance to help you and do become legal.
carla in oregon
edit: i seldom smoke it.

 Re: Marijuana
I don't take it, but if I move to Canada and my brain is a bit more stable I might consider it for pain, nausea, and sleep. Toronto has a much more relaxed policy on it than other places.

 Re: Marijuana
without it, there would be no stability for me. ingested in the proper dose you feel no "stone". it is a marvelous pain killer if you find the proper neuropathic pain strain. my best to you in your efforts to find what works for you. we all deseve to be pain free....at least pain minimal.

 Re: Marijuana
This is an extremely interesting and controversial subject that has come up on the boards several times over the years....
Please keep up the conversation, as I am sure many are interested in the topic. And medically prescribed Marijuana is something that many feel should be more available to more patients.
But we have had the discussions also turn to illegally obtaining these same drugs....
So It just needs to be stated that butytoudontlooksick.com never supports any illegal activity like purchasing illegal drugs.
Okay... back to our normally scheduled programming

 Re: Marijuana
Thanks Wendy. We're all doing okay in this thread, correct? Just want to make sure. Like I said, when I go somewhere where it's less illegal I will most likely use it, hopefully with my doctor's blessing and guidance. For now I guess I have to stay dopey and dizzy and sleepy on the lowest dosage of tramadol....

 Re: Marijuana
I believe marijuana like any other drug helps some people. I wish I could speak from personal expereince, but if I was given the opportunity, I would be using it for pain. I detest having to take vicoden, but i take it when I cannot afford accupunture. My insurance covers vicoden but not accupunture, which is more effective.
It is unfornunate like other drugs that there is much controversery with this and other drugs. My belief, if it helps, it should be available. Dee

 Re: Marijuana
I couldn't use it even if it were legal here - it's a migraine trigger for me, and a pretty severe one, just from passive smoking.

 Re: Marijuana
Don't know about alternative forms but definitely can't smoke or even be AROUND people who are smoking as I'm bipolar...and mania isn't cool.
So that's something for my doctor posse to figure out for me.

 Re: Marijuana
yeah, I'd need to get my head figured out first... then again, if it's the productive money making type I could use it.
