 Quick question
Hi everyone, I was just kinda/sorta diagnosed with Benign Joint Hypermobility, again a rheumatologist who says I have the Brighton score for it, but doesn't really want to diagnose it. I'm just curious about another symptom I have. If I sit on my knees, I have to be careful how I stand up, because if they go out to the side, the top of my fibula will dislocate and then I have to straighten my leg to pop it back in. Does this happen to anyone else? If so, is it a Hypermobility thing or an EDS thing? Thanks

 Re: Quick question
Yeah it's both a hypermobility thing and an EDS thing. My hypermobile friends are more prone to slipping things out of place from time to time but not like me A lot of teens (esp. girls) have sliding kneecaps. Usually PT helps reduce the occurrence of it...then a knee brace would be considered if the PT didn't do the trick. I don't understand why your doc wouldn't diagnose BJHS...as far as insurance goes it causes NO trouble...it's EDS that makes them mad...

 Re: Quick question
Steph is correct.
I too don't understand why your doc doesn't want to diagnose you...do you know why??

 Re: Quick question
Mhmm Hypermobility EDS (Type III) is now believed to be the same thing as HMS
