Vote for Annie and Tom on the Today Show!

Annie and Tom from Chicago, Illinois are one of five couples competing in the NBC TODAY Show's annual "Race to the Altar." Your vote today can help Annie and Tom get married live on the show in June.

Annie was diagnosed with lupus when she was 17. After she was diagnosed, Annie feared that no one would ever be able to love her completely for who she was as a person. Yet it was her chronic disease that gave Annie an inner strength and drive to succeed, all qualities that to this day Tom constantly admires about her.

Help Annie and Tom be selected as this year’s TODAY Show wedding couple by voting for Annie and Tom. The deadline for this round of voting is 12 p.m. Eastern Time this coming Monday, May 19.

Grand Rounds, Vol. 4, No. 20: The Health 2.0 Explosion

Kudos to our friend Amy at diabetesmine for hosting Grand Rounds this week. I couldn't agree with her more on technology/ health being a very important topic in the coming elections.

Here is an excerpt from her post:

Happy Super Tuesday! Whether or not you live in one of the 24 states that cast their votes today, you probably agree that healthcare will be one of the major opportunities –- and major challenges -– for the next White House. Now for the first time in history, policy makers are facing a more outspoken, more organized medical and patient constituency than ever, due to the emergence of social media on the Internet, aka Health 2.0.

Do you Like Word Seaches and Crossword Puzzles?

Do you Like Word Seaches and Crossword Puzzles? I just found this website that makes it so super easy to make those word games for any topic, party or theme. It literally takes maybe 3 minutes. You fill in the blanks with the words you want to include, check off a few style question and difficulty of puzzle, and voila! A computer program makes it up for you and it is ready to print and save. Voila! A perfect, custom addition to any party or event. Granted I just used this to give the kids coming to a family party something to do, but I can see this having a bigger use for school teachers with diffiuclt/ borning subjects. For "awareness" campaigns.. like a lupus word search. For support groups etc. It is a fun easy way to break the ice, start conversations/ mingling and bring up certain words or topics.

I just had to share. :) Click here:

Thanks Lisa Anne!

Anger Management

I have been feeling very angry lately.

Angry that I do not have the energy I want to have to take care of my beautiful baby girl.
Angry tht I do not have the energy to push through the pain to even do the fun stuff, watch movies with my husband, hand out with our friends.... Man, I haven't even felt up to writing. I used to love to write and now my hands are swollen and I am loosing my creative juices.

The exhaustion and pain make even showering a torturous task.

I know and hop this is just a phase. I know life isn't fair. I am a big girl-- but boy , does it make me angry!

-Christine
