Vote for Annie and Tom on the Today Show!

Annie and Tom from Chicago, Illinois are one of five couples competing in the NBC TODAY Show's annual "Race to the Altar." Your vote today can help Annie and Tom get married live on the show in June.

Annie was diagnosed with lupus when she was 17. After she was diagnosed, Annie feared that no one would ever be able to love her completely for who she was as a person. Yet it was her chronic disease that gave Annie an inner strength and drive to succeed, all qualities that to this day Tom constantly admires about her.

Help Annie and Tom be selected as this year’s TODAY Show wedding couple by voting for Annie and Tom. The deadline for this round of voting is 12 p.m. Eastern Time this coming Monday, May 19.

Ten reasons why I blog and write

I have been spendng so much timn e writing for our main site (butyoudontlooksick.com) that I noticed that I haven't updated this blog in a bit, so when looking for something more personal to write about...I found my good spoonie friend Linz.

I haven't been "tagged" by Linz to do a meme with 10 reasons why I blog, but I was inspired by her!

Ten reasons why I blog:

1) I blog/ write because I can. Quite simply I know that there are others who are too sick or in too much pain to write. I can be a voice for those who can't.

2) I blog/write to raise awareness of Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and the long list of "Invisible diseases" that go undiagnosed, or misunderstood.

3) I blog/ write to help build a community of people living with various conditions that may be able to help each other with tips, advice, friendship and hope. I sometimes jokingly call it "the secret society of the sick". Many disease or medications have similar symptoms and side effects. We can help each other so much. Hopefully I have built and will continue to build a forum where that is possible.

4) I blog/ write to connect with the medical blogosphere, to network, to make relationships and to learn from others. There is a wealth of information out there if you just take the time to look. There are many doctors, nurses and patient advocates doing a great job.

5) I blog/ write to share my story, my journey. You might not have had the same experiences as me - but many times the emotions are the same. I want to give hope to others.

6) I blog/ write to learn from others through their comments and feedback. I love hearing from our readers about their experiences, emotions, suggestions, etc.

7) I blog/ write because now that I have made the commitment to provide new content every day (Monday- Friday) I know that some people look forward to that daily email in their mailboxes. I have heard from so many in appreciation of the articles. Whether it is a short silly article, or a long in depth article, I know it is being read.

8) I blog/ write because if I have tried a product, read a book, or figured out a tip or trick to doing something, then I want to pass on that info! I want to help people live better lives. Why should we make the same mistakes? Have you ever thought to yourself... "I wish someone told me that!". Well, now I have. :)

9) I blog/ write to bring attention to different projects that I might have going on like, fundraising, the ButYouDontLookSick.com online store, our message boards, and more.

10) I feel that writing is a creative outlet for me. I like getting inspired and passionate. I love the energy that flows when you have ideas spinning quicker then your fingers can type.

OKay, I am going to tag my favorite women health bloggers:

Jenni at Chronicbabe.com
Kerri at sixuntilme.com (good luck with the upcoming wedding!)Amy diabetesmine.com

We need to support each other!! :)
As Linz said, hopefully they have the spoons to respond! If not, please check out their blogs anyway
