Hello...Is Anybody Out There?

Sometimes I wonder if anyone is really reading my writing. Does what I say, or write really mean anything? And then i get a video like this from a reader that makes everything worth it. Thank you Lisa Anne for sending it. Thank you for encouraging me to keep writing.

Christine's thank you!

Hi! Comment and question.

Comment: some of your white foreground on the blog doesn't extend all the way to the end of the text, if that makes sense. Some of the text appears on the dark purple background, making it hard to read. Of course, it could just be my Mac browser, lol.

Question: will you be listing links to other Spoonies blogs? It would be an interesting way to see what other members are up to and their take on the world. I've been doing the blog thang for five years now, I think, and I try to keep up with other bloggers when I can.

Blogs are great for catharsis, for blanket announcements when you're in too much of a flare for multiple e-mails, and for exercising the ol' brain. Have fun with this. Looks good so far!

Thanks for the feedback Karen!!! I will look into the whitespace issue.

The idea of listing other good blogs is great. I* will look into adding a fav blog roll or something in the next waves of additions/ improvements.

I really think this will be good for the site and a good way for me to interact with the readers- instead of rummaging through hundreds of emails. :)

Yup, struggling to read grey text on purple!

This is a great idea. I'm going to add you to MY blog list. My blog is at

I am reading and thank you for all your effort!

Hi, lady,
Love the baby pix, she's a doll! My own "baby" is 18 now, and it has been such a joy watching him grow, even through our chronic illnesses (he's a type I diabetic).
I was doing some research, prompted by my own experience and that of other salaried types. I thought, surely, there has got to be a law somewhere that limits the number of hours of work per day or week that you can be required to work. Well, some states may have such a law, but the feds don't. Check out http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/regs/compliance/hrg.htm where it says they don't limit the number of hours. So, if the employer says that if you can't work 45, 50, 60, or more hour/week that you are no longer able to do your job, they can let you go. And by what I see on the information on ADA act, it won't help as long as the employer makes the longer hours a job requirement (not that you always work them, but that you are able to if needed for your job requirements). And we all know where that's going to go for those of us with chronic illnesses.
What is the most amazing to me is the total shortsightedness of the US workplace in general. Why do they think that the 50% or less of the US populace who do not have at least one chronic illness can support the other half or better without collapsing the economy? We're short on jobs now in too many places, but they keep cutting the number of employees and increasing the workload. This is making more people sick and causing more problems. A lot of workplaces don't buy into that for a long time, then money and time crunches come and they demand more and more of fewer and fewer workers. I know that if someone's hourly, they have to be paid overtime for more than 40 hr/week, but what if the employer decides that paying the OT is worth it - then they could demand we all work up to 24/7 if there are truly no limits to the hours.
Maybe this is where we can raise our voices to our elected representatives - if we all started emailing and/or snailmailing and/or phoning our senators and representatives at the state and federal level, maybe we can get it changed.
What do you all think>
