I always knew about Barbara's Puffins cereal, and now since I am spending the month eating healthier, I thought it was time for me to try some of the other products made by Barbara's Bakery. In the month of May, as I tried to eat better, I learned an important lesson, and that is, I eat what I keep in the house. If I keep junk food in the house, I will snack on it. Even with the best of intentions, if it is there, eventually it will get eaten. Once I started stocking my pantry with better choices, I started eating better. Of course it always helps when the snacks and foods taste good, as well.

I like to avoid stress. That is, I intentionally avoid adding stress, in addition to the everyday stresses I cannot avoid. For example, I can't avoid pain, no matter which way I dodge. I can't avoid the necessity of working or office politics. I can't avoid all family obligations and relationship strains, in fact, living with someone like me can't be easy. So all that unavoidable stress gets to a person. Somehow we've got to just roll with them, roll them out of our minds and off our backs.

Looking for a light, portable crunchy snack that won't unravel your efforts to eat healthy, and one that actually tastes good too? Believe it or not, one exists. The Genisoy Food Company makes Soy Crisps, a yummy alternative to boring rice cakes and greasy chips.

I have never looked in the “organic” or “vegetarian” section of my local grocery store when shopping. I am not a vegetarian, and I used to think I couldn’t afford organic specialty food. I assumed they would be pricey, or not taste too good. I made a huge mistake by skipping this section! I recently found the brand Amy’s Kitchen and I am so excited to share my new yummy addiction with you!
Amy’s kitchen is the nation’s leading, natural, frozen food brand. They make convenient and tasty natural vegetarian meals and they sure know what they aredoing! I know I doubted it too, but every meal or snack I tried wassurprisingly delicious. Although I am not a vegetarian, I have been trying to eat healthier, and the thought of including more vegetables in my diet sounded like a good idea. I also liked that no additives, preservatives or GMOs are used to make these foods. If a child can’t pronounce it, you won’t find it on an Amy’s label. How refreshing is that? If you have a special diet check their website, they have gluten free dishes, as well as non-dairy/lactose free.

I find I eat more when I’m bored. Or when I’m depressed. Most time it has nothing to do with hunger, it’s just a nervous reaction. So find what works for you. For me, nothing is more relaxing than reading a bit and have a cup of herbal tea or some fruit juice.

In order to eat healthily, you need to have healthy food ready in the house in my opinion – when you’re low on Spoons and needing food, if it’s a choice between going to the grocery store to buy some ingredients for a proper meal or grabbing a ready meal or pizza out of the freezer, then in our house, it would always be freezer food. Getting organic vegetables delivered is one way to make sure you have healthier food available all the time.
There are a number of options for getting organic vegetables delivered in the UK, but we use Abel & Cole and have been extremely pleased with the company and their service.

I have been putting off reading this book for over a year. My boss had it for a while. He borrowed it from his friend, and while he was at work, and I was babysitting the kids, I would read Marley and Me, while the kids slept. I hit the first heartbreaking moment of the book and I had to put it down. I vowed that one day I would pick it up again, and read it, but I had managed to put off that promise for over a year.

Back in the early winter, I found out my husband and I were having a new addition to our family in the fall. Determined to sleep a little easier, and hopefully ease some pain during my second pregnancy, than I did the
first, I set off on a mission to find a body pillow to help support as many of my pained body parts as possible. At first, all I was searching for was the basic, full-length rectangular pillow, status quo. But soon into my hunt, I found what is called the Snoogle pillow. It had some rave reviews, and from its appearance, it looked like it might be a better option. So, I took the plunge and ordered one online.

Amidst the cacophony of people who wanted an article on Herbal Housekeeping, here is your reward!
After some research I have found that it is making quite a comeback. New research indicates not only presumed health hazards with the range of “normal” toxic chemicals we use on a daily basis, but also links to ADD, hyperactivity and a full slew of diseases we are now seeing reported more and more. I will leave the numbers and validity arguments up to the experts and say only that it is a good idea, especially if you already suffer from a disease that can or may have affected your chemical sensitivities. No one need tell you the benefits of prevention! (AND, with no real harmful side effects, you can start enlisting those kids and put them to work!)

I am now a dried fruit junkie and snacks like these from Peeled Fruits do not help my addiction! This is a relatively young company and their enthusiasm shows! First of all, I loved the bold, funky packaging. Dried fruit usually seems so boring and well, lifeless. Dried fruit is a natural source of fiber, so I wanted to find new ways to add them to my diet. The bags from peeled snacks seem to jump right out at me and look appetizing before I even opened the bag. The pieces of fruit are certainly a mouth full- you do not feel like you are getting cheated. The portions are good, but the size of the actual fruit pieces are what makes it even better.

I think I can officially be called the Snack Queen now. For the past month I have searched high and low for good, healthy, satisfying snacks. I find that most of my calories or "bad eating habits" come from the snacking I did, not necessarily from meals. So I thought if I surround myself with healthy options, then I will make better choices. Funky Monkey Snacks are all-natural, freeze-dried, fruit pieces accented with additional natural flavors including; cinnamon, acai and lime. I sampled the Bananamon (banana/cinnamon) and Purple Funk (banana/acai). I didn't even know what acai was, but it tasted good!

Remember those fruit roll-ups we used to eat when we were kids? I begged my mother for them as a snack after school. On my recent quest to eat better, I was thinking how great it would be to have something like that for
us adults who want to eat healthy, but still have a sweet fruity snack. I found something yummier and actually good for you. Bear Fruit Bars are a certified organic snack made entirely from fruit with no chemicals, preservatives or other yucky stuff.

On my quest to eat healthier, I learned the hard lesson that I am lazy. I hate to admit it, but that is the reality. I want to eat better, I have the desire, but I am tired, and have no patience. If I am hungry, I want to eat now! Well, eating healthy just got easier and yummier!

Sometimes there are times in life that we’re too busy, too sick, too tired, or too over-worked to stop at the grocery and get fresh food. What happens when we’re stuck in the house with no fresh food to eat? Worse: what happens when you have to feed others with the bare minimum of food in the house? Though canned food sometimes gets a bad reputation for being packed in sugars, salts, and a can, canned food can be very convenient to have on hand for those stretches of time you know you won’t be able to make it to the market. But, what canned food is the best to eat? What’s the healthiest? What can you make and serve with canned food? Here I’ll show some quick and easy ways to perk up your culinary life using simple canned foods that are cheap, easy to store, and last a long time; further, these recipes are healthy and can be altered to your diet and taste.

I was looking for a healthy snack bar to take with me when I am traveling or waiting in doctor's offices and can't get a meal. I wanted it to taste good too. This apparently is a hard request, a healthy bar that tastes good! I was bored with granola bars. The Shaklee Cinch Bars come in three flavors; Peanut Butter, Chocolate Decadence and Lemon Cranberry. I love them all but the chocolate flavor is my favorite. I felt like I was having a yummy chocolate candy bar.

This recipe may literally be the easiest recipe on the face of the earth. Not only that, but it’s delicious and healthy. Plus, it’s a perfect recipe for a family dinner, dinner parties, potlucks, and holidays.
Remember carrots are full of beta-carotene which is an anti-oxidant and by cooking carrots slightly (which you’re doing here) it helps your body absorb the beta-carotene.

I've made a promise to myself that I would start eating healthier. I feel that the choices we make, with what enters our bodies, is definitely one thing we can do to help us feel better. It feels great to make positive choices. When you are like me and you have a chronic illness, it is so important to eat well. I think many times the reason we do not eat as well as we should is because we are just too tired to cook, or too tired to shop for the healthier choices. I found a great tasting crunchy, sweet snack that I am now officially addicted to. I didn't think it would be possible to be addicted to something healthy, but I am!

I am admittedly a diet soda junkie. I drink a few glasses a day and although I know it is not the best thing for me to drink, I enjoy it and miss it when I do not have a diet soda. I do not want the calories of regular soda, so what were my options? When I heard about Zevia I was anxious to try it.

As a person with an AI Disease I have to be careful with my diet. Before I got really sick I never thought about what I ate, but now I look for healthier options, not only for me but for my husband. I want to keep him healthy, so he doesn't have to go through this kind of pain.

I am a picky eater at times, and I am always on the go. Eating healthy is hard but Luna Bars and Clif bars have made it easier. Now I have no excuses not to take better care of myself. I have tried numerous nutrition bars, meal replacement bars and granola snack bars, and I found them either not satisfying, not appetizing or they left a bad after-taste in my mouth. I have tried various flavors of both the Luna bar and the Clif bar and I was pleasantly surprised at how good they all taste.

My daughter Christine has had Lupus, with the accompanying vast array of symptoms, since she was 15 years old. During college, in her attempt to explain her illness, she wrote about Lupus and its debilitating effect on her energy, by a comparison to waking up each day with a limited amount of "spoons".

I would like to thank my mom for her persistence and her nagging. Persistence for raising a child with chronic complaints. She knew I did not sleep well, she knew I had joint pain and she knew I seemed to catch everything that was going around. She could have thought I was faking it, to get out of school, or exaggerating to get attention. Instead she brought me to the doctors, until the doctors themselves could not deny something was going on, even if they did not know what. Thus my odd blood work was watched bi-annually and I saw more than my fair share of specialists. Many things were ruled out a young age and without this persistence, this understanding, it would have been years before I received the treatment I needed. Just having that one person on my side, fighting for my needs made and makes a great deal of difference. I may have been frustrated with finding a diagnosis, but I never felt like anyone thought I was crazy or a hypochondriac, not with my mom on my side.

After dealing with my own hair loss, due to the medications I am on for Lupus, I am extra sensitive to any hair issues. When I saw my baby daughter with bald spots from lying in her crib on her back, I was upset. Even though she did not know the difference, I noticed and strangers and family members noticed as well. I was looking for something that would help, and I found "The Baby Sharmooz". As always, I love supporting other work at home moms, so when I learned that this was a mom-invented product I was thrilled.
