Want to get away? Read a book!

If you’re at the end of your day (or your rope) and would like to escape the world, try a book!

You can travel to the other side of the world and look through scenic booklets of foreign attractions, read about other country’s cultures, or read about foreign explorations – all from your armchair.

You can read about wizards, fairies, dragons, and magic – and pretend you’re there, too! Hunt for treasures, seek a crown, and fight evil – without leaving home…

Solve a mystery with a classic story by Agatha Christie, or do a current current cosy mystery about needlework and murder by Monica Ferris, or maybe read a spy story or a James Bond novel.

Learn a new skill: woodworking, crocheting, knitting, quilting, plastic canvas, candle wicking, toile painting and more.

I have some old arts: macramé, chenille, embroidery transfers, feather arts. Want to use up some old supplies – check out my craft section.

Or you can wander through the old west with Billy the Kid, John Wesley Hardin, Butch Cassidy and more! Visit ghost towns all across the US. Meet one of the famous madams who owned property or read about the “soiled doves” who worked for her.

Books can teach you, can help you escape the world, can help you learn a craft or a new recipe, or just plain entertain you.

Books are my friends, and I get a lot of enjoyment out of them. They help relieve boredom, can calm me down when I’m upset, help me pass time in doctor offices while I’m waiting for my appointment, and sometimes they are an old familiar read that I want to visit again – sort of like your favorite pair of well worn slippers you keep wearing when other people think you ought to get new ones.

You can pick a book up, read a bit, put it back down, and go do something else. It’ll wait for you. And a cool bookmark saving your place will make you smile when you open it to read again!

Happy reading.
