Product Review for the CHILLOW Sleep Cool Without Cranking Up The AC!

Hot Flashes! Night Sweats! Hot Summer Nights!! They have to be the bane of everyone's sleeping time! It's hard enough to sleep when you are a spoonie, without having to factor in that you can't sleep because you overheat too!! It's a nightmare! One I wish I could sleep through, but I can't.

As if that alone were not my only issue, my AC unit decided to go on the fritz last week, so by the time Friday night rolled around, I was tired, miserable and a hot sticky grumpy mess!!! Thank God it was April and not August. I woke up pouring with sweat due to the high humidity, plus my fibro flaring too. So at 6 am, I turned on the computer and got searching. Google has to be my saving grace. I was searching for anything at all that could help keep me cool at night.

BINGO!-The first thing that I saw was the Chillow! Chillow? What in the heck is a chillow? Well the Chillow is a pillow insert! Hmm sounds interesting right? Well it was. It seems that this 21" x 13.5" by 0.5" insert is fluid filled and keeps you cool.

Fast forward to Thursday! I have mail!! When it came it was in a long thin box, and weighed hardly anything, surely this couldn't be my chillow? But it was, since it was all rolled up. I looked at the instructions, which were pretty straight forward. Just unroll the chillow, pull off the sealing stopper and add 8-9 cups of warm tap water... (8-9 Cups??? What are they trying to do? Drown me in my sleep?) Replace the stopper and leave on your counter top for 4 hours to activate. 4 hours later, and this is the tricky part for me at least, you have to roll your chillow up from the valveless end, as far as you can, then slowly release the stopper so that it can release the air while you are pushing the air bubbles out (Two achy hands, a spoonie with brain fog, air bubbles, water and other stuff going on does not make for an easy experience) I displaced a little water, but that's OK. My Chillow now looked like the illustration, vacuum sealed and wrinkled, and smelling vaguely of antiseptic.

Last night was my first night using this Chillow and I LOVED IT!!!! I put it inside my pillow case, as suggested, and lay down. It was so cool, my face and neck was loving it. Can you say BLISS! I think I must have died and gone to heaven. I woke a few times in the night, and usually I am a chronic pillow flipper, trying to find that one cool spot, but not that night! I didn't have to flip my pillow, I just moved over and found another cool spot. Even at 6 am when I woke for work, I could still find somewhere cool to lay my head, it's amazing!

It has a memory foam insert in the middle of the Chillow, which then uses the water to act like a car radiator and dissipate heat using water. I love this and I am thankful I found it. Shame I didn't find it months ago, but I think this is going to be my new best friend. I definitely give it a 10!

It does say that it can be used for a variety of different things; headaches, migraines, sunburns, night sweats, and just to cool you if you are hot. It also says that it won't feel as cold for some people as others, and may also be too cold for some people, as everyone is different. I found it just right to be honest. But if it's not cool enough, you can put it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to give it a boost. Just don't put it in the freezer.

Looking on the site, they also offer wrist comfort strips for when you use the computer, Pet pillows to keep our pets cool and comfortable, plus the covers to stop them from getting dirty or damaged.

I bought a Chillow last year, just before summer (I guess probably around this time of year!), and LOVED it. I was in the middle of the same situation as you...fibro flareups, waking up covered in sweat, etc. I agree that the Chillow really helped.

Unfortunately, my roommate's new puppy chewed a little hole in it the third day I had it. Been in the top of my closet ever since...which reminds me, I need to figure out if I can repair it somehow. I miss it! Glad it helped you.
