If you are on medication or have an illness as I do, it is very important to wear a medical identification bracelet. But most bracelets I found are bulky, masculine and not the least bit fashionable, so I never wanted to wear one.

We all want to get the most out of our citrus fruits, which usually means squishing them until we’ve gotten every drop of juice. Some people recommend that you microwave your lemon for a few moments or roll it on the counter,
but when it comes right down to it, you still need an effective way to remove the juice. An electronic juicer would work fine, but they aren’t cost effective if you only squeeze the occasional lemon. A traditional reamer is generally efficient, but it’s not an easy tool to use for those with exhaustion or joint issues, and it doesn’t catch the seeds. As it turns out, the newest product on the market has proven to be the most functional and intelligent.

Every patient over the course of their disease will learn the tell tale signs pointing to their body entering a "flare up".
I am one of those patients who know their body like a road map. I know every scar, every blemish, every black and blue. I have learned that any change, addition, or variation of these are hints and clues as to what lies on the road before me.
I find myself at times analyzing my own body like a detective on a mystery case. The book Body Signs is a fantastic book that offers even more insight to the clues our body naturally gives us to understand our own state of health. I found this book interesting, but also re-assuring to the self awareness I already had.

A 5 -week Program for Living a Heart- Healthy Lifestyle
So, February came and went, and I was so busy that I missed "Heart Month". The American Heart Association had many program's Like the infamous "go Red" campaign, and as I watched the news anchors wear red, and even my favorite TV shows incorporating the theme, I skipped out on checking on my own health. We are so focused on February being the season of Valentine's Day but, what better way to show the ones you love how much you care than by checking on the state of your heart. I guess all the heart health promotions finally got to me, because I finally took the time to read the book "Heart Smart for Black Woman and Latinas".

I am proud of my wife, Christine. I am proud of the work she does for the Lupus Alliance, this website, and for our family. I am proud of her passion to help others, and the impact she has had on so many people through her speaking engagements, and of course, through ButYouDontLookSick.com.
I had the pleasure of joining Christine and the Lupus Alliance on a recent trip to Washington DC, to promote Lupus awareness and lobby for the support of local congressional representatives. We decided to bring our seven month old daughter, Olivia, and my role was to care for her during the trip so that Christine could fully participate in the Advocacy Day activities. This included training sessions, lectures, and individual meetings with congressional representatives Carolyn McCarthy (D, New York) and Peter King (R, New York).

When I was little my mother hated us to dye the eggs we would later be eating with the food dyes from the store. She claimed the food dyes would seep through the egg shell and we would be eating unnecessary chemicals. Therefore, dyeing Easter eggs wasn’t a huge pastime of my family’s. That is until now. I recently discovered a niche in Easter egg dyeing: using natural foods to dye eggs! Now you too can dye your eggs with the same food you eat in order to stay away from unnecessary food dyes and keep your family happy AND healthy this Easter!

You know the slogan: “When You Care Enough To Send the Very Best.” Often times, when we are stretching our spoons out to the very limit, we feel that we aren’t always able to contribute our very best, even when in our hearts, we desperately desire to do so. For instance, when you hear great news, like I just did, about a friend getting engaged. You want to get a card out into the mail, but you’re not exactly sure how you’ll be able to extend yourself to get to the store right away amidst all of the other “must do’s” that require so much of your precious energy. Your heart is the right spot, but you’re just not sure how you’re going to accomplish it. This product helps!

When my husband and I decided that we needed a new mattress, a memory foam mattress was the obvious choice. Due to my Fibromyalgia, I can always feel the springs, even on a very good mattress, and although I need a soft mattress for my tender pressure points, I also need good support.

I am sure when you read the title of this article you thought, “Bollywood”? What is that, a typo? Or I am in brain fog? But do not worry, you read correctly. The Indian (aka Hindi) Film Industry is more commonly known as “Bollywood.” Many of the big film production companies are based in Mumbai, India, formerly known as Bombay, and the “B” was borrowed along with an homage to Hollywood, and we have Bollywood! It is the largest film industry in the world, producing over 800 films a year, with ticket sales in the billions. Bollywood productions are mostly romantic musicals, much like the old Hollywood classics, with absolutely beautiful costumes, photography and scenery. They have great stories, excellent performances, and the music and dance sequences are so wonderful to watch, but I am getting ahead of myself. I am totally in love with these films, as well as the music, so I thought I would give you an introduction into this wonderful world.

I was as skeptical as any that something like Popcorn – bringing to mind giant bags of butter and salt or candy coated boxes with prizes in them – could ever be seen as truly healthy or sensible. Sure, there are microwaveable varieties that are low calorie, but they usually taste like cardboard or nothing at all if you get lucky.

I was thirty two years old when I had my stroke. I banged on the screen door window to catch the dog’s attention; the glass shattered and severed two tendons in my arm and a bunch of nerves in my hand. The surgery was extremely successful in repairing that damage, but after I got home from the hospital I began to feel strange. Not myself. We checked with the pharmacist and learned that I was having a bad reaction to codeine, prescribed for the after surgery pain. When I couldn’t tie my shoes and didn’t know the names of things, including myself and my daughters, I was worried, but thought it was just an aftermath of the whole affair. Anesthetics and I have a track record of not getting along. By the time we realized that something much worse had occurred, it was too late to do anything about it. The doctor said that I’d had a slow bleed that had repaired itself and now I just had to recover.

Before I start the review for Becoming Jane, let me just say that I adore Anne Hathaway in that all encompassing sort of adoration; I want to be her, date her, be her best friend, stylist, and work with her. However much I love her though, I got to be honest here. Becoming Jane was a good movie, and just that. Becoming Jane was a 2007 movie based on the life of the strong-minded writer Jane Austen.
