Movie Review: I am Legend

I have been a big Will Smith fan since he was in the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" I think he's smart and funny. He's a pretty good actor too, so it doesn't hurt that he's also pretty cute! Whenever he comes out with a new movie, I am usually interested in going to see it, so I have seen most of his movies, except for Wild Wild West, which just didn't appeal to me.

I saw that I Am Legend was coming out in December, and both myself and my husband wanted to see it. So, we bit the bullet, went to see the movie and I loved it!

The basic plot is that a doctor finds a way to "genetically rework" the measles virus, so that it works for the body to kill cancer. Except it didn't end there, and the virus mutated people into these "Dark Seekers," a bit like vampires, but not at the same time. Will Smith is in the military and decides to stay in NYC to create an antidote to the virus.

There were plenty of moments where I got startled! In fact I think twice I got startled in the first 5-10 minutes of the movie.

It gave a great insight into the loneliness he must have been feeling as the only person in NYC who was totally immune to the virus. Everyone else had mutated into these "Dark Seekers" or had escaped the city before it was locked down by the military. He searches for another human, and for a cure! The only living thing he had to talk to was his dog, (a gorgeous German Shepherd, I was smitten..) Samantha, Sam for Short.

The whole movie is just Will Smith and his Dog Sam, except for when it gets closer to the end. There are lots of twists and turns in this movie as he battled to stay alive!

If you don't like blood or violence, then this might not be the movie for you.
Personally, I really liked this movie. Both hubby and I were enthralled the whole way through it. If you are expecting a nice light story, then you need to go and see something else. This one is definitely punchy and raw!

Great Movie. I'd give it 8/10
