With Christmas coming many people are looking for unique gifts, something that the receiver can not find anywhere else. I have found these pillow cases from DreamAidproducts.com that I think may make the perfect gift for so many people. You might be able to find a great gift for even those most difficult to shop for. There are so many cute sayings to choose from. This store's slogan is healing rest for body, mind and soul, which sounds great to me!

Happy Halloween! Well in the humor of the season it’s the perfect time to talk make-up. What do you mean you don’t like blue eye shadow? No wait! Hear me out!
Halloween is a great time for both reflection, release and expression. A time where every adult can be a kid and the night becomes a fun place. A time where you can wear the invisible as the visible!

Here we hear all kinds of controversy about day care for working Americans as another presidential election runs on and on through the mud puddles. What about those of us with invisible illnesses?

Ever since lung cancer forced Denise to become bed bound, Chili, my cocker spaniel, and I had been visiting on Friday afternoons. Chili jumped right up on the bed -- first sniffing for bits of food lost in the tangle of blankets and sheets and then curling up next to Denise for a nap. Over the months I came to follow his example. At first I sat poised on the farthest corner, not wanting to upset Denise’s arrangement of books, uneaten plates of food, and medications. Near the end, Chili nestled on one side of her and I lay down next to her on the other side. We both stared at the ceiling as we exchanged stories about horses and mothers and doctors and dreams. Once, in a quiet moment, Denise turned towards the daylight entering through a gap in the curtains. I admired her still pure skin and the way her chestnut hair cascaded around her angular face. She closed her eyes and arched her head back as if drinking in a stream of sunlight.

It is that time of year again!
My family, friends and I are walking in the annual Lupus Walk on Long Island, NY. This has been a family tradition that has meant allot to me through the years. The Lupus Alliance has helped me and my family throughout the years and this is our way of helping them continue their good work.

Sometimes you just gotta laugh...
Let’s face it. When you have Lupus, Cancer, or any invisible illness you have days (or months) where eating is the last thing you want to do. Of course our families still insist on having a decent meal, so what do you do? :)

One evening a month ten women friends take time out of our complicated lives to gather together - not to discuss the latest Toni Morrison novel or to pick an eco-friendly company in which to invest or to discuss how to make our streets safer – but to play the game of our childhood, dominoes. Many of us have health conditions (chronic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, cancer) that would make more vigorous play difficult. Dominoes is a great fit! It has low athletic requirements, but demands some attention, and can satisfy competitive urges.

How many times have you opened a drawer, cabinet or closet and spied an item that you had every intention of using, but don't? It's really frustrating... you have spent good money on that item and now it just sits, gathering dust. Why? Simple... out of sight, out of mind!

Autumn days and chilly nights call out for comfort food! Here is one of my favorite creations for you to enjoy. It does involve a bit of prep work but it is well worth the effort and you will probably have leftovers to enjoy later!

Yes, we are stuck with wearing "that thing" - it is important and a lifesaver, but who says it has to be... ugly?
Unless you are lucky enough to have a real gold or silver medical necklace or bracelet, yours probably looks like mine... plain.
I make jewelry and crochet, so I decided one day to play with my medical alert bracelet a bit. Now when I get tired of it, I just take it apart and change it again!

The day started early for me. When I awoke at 7:15, my husband and three of our seven dogs had already gone for a golf cart run around our farm. Putting on my red flannel housecoat, I poured my coffee and went outside to greet them. Here they came, lickity-split, so excited to see me. After such a hot summer, the cool weather had invigorated all of them including Eddie. “I’m not ready for this!” my brain cried, but I forced a smile anyway. To them, I looked like I felt fine.

As colorful as a parade, another fall season has begun on network prime time television. Each attraction is designed to capture your attention for at least the next 24 weeks or so. And each network is hoping you'll be so pleased with its current offerings that you'll not tune in elsewhere. There are many new shows this year. I decided to test drive six of them.

It is the beginning of October and you know what that means to us here at Butyoudontlooksick.com... It is Lupus Awareness month. For this month, I try to post mostly about Lupus or lupus related stories, reviews etc. I also spend a lot of time talking about my efforts with the Lupus Walk in my local area. It is getting closer...there are only 18 days left to fundraise until the walk (On Oct 21). We need your help to reach our goal.

Many people have asked me why I choose to participate in the Walk Along for Lupus. Of course there are many other things I can be doing with my time on an early Sunday morning. Asking a women who has lupus and arthritis to wake up early and walk is certainly asking for a miracle. This year will be especially hard to get out of the house with a new baby. Hasn't anyone ever thought of a sleep athon??

During my pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. After getting a glimpse of what life would be like having diabetes, I found Kerri Morrone's website. Kerri is a fellow health blogger that I admire and respect. She has a great attitude towards living with diabetes, and a writing style that is addictive. I thought the butyoudontlooksick.com readers would have fun learning a bit more about our "new friend".

According to psychologists, moving is one of the most stressful events in one's life that doesn't involve the loss or gain of a family member. That is true regardless of your health status. While there is probably no such thing as a 100 percent trouble free move, there are steps you can take to cut back on the amount of effort required.
