Poetry: No More Spoons

One of our members submitted this poem.

I am nearing the end of my tether
My spoons have nearly run out
I need a close friend
In whom I can depend
And talk through my feelings of doubt.

It’s so hard to say how I’m feeling
To express all the thoughts that I hide
If you don’t really feel
That my anguish is real
Then how can I stay by your side?

It’s so sad that they can’t understand it
The Doctor’s words cut like a knife
If they can’t really see
What it’s like to be me
Then what is the point of my life?

The worst part is you not believing
This pain that I’m feeling inside
If it’s all in my head
Am I’m better off dead?
When you don’t see the tears that I’ve cried.

I really think you deserve better
A life without my broken dreams
My life’s ripped apart
And it’s breaking my heart
And it’s starting to show at the seams.

I love you and don’t want to leave you
But I’m hurting much more than you know.
I feel that my pain
Is becoming a drain
So maybe it’s time that I go?

Wow, I too am feeling this way and your poem brought tears to my eyes as well. Again, I am not alone, thank you.
