Website and Product Review: chroniquecouture.com

I have just discovered my new favorite website- beside my own of course. It's called Chronique Couture and it was begun a year ago by a young woman named Kimberly who was diagnosed with MS. Like most young women, she was saddened by the lack of practical, yet fashionable "medical accessories." Anyone who has to deal with a chronic illness knows how much the little things in life can lift your spirits. This website features items to make your life easier, as well as put a smile on your face.

The website itself is fun to peruse, with bold and colorful backgrounds and a sassy and chic look. If you deserve a treat or you need a gift for someone who struggles with a chronic illness, this is a great place to shop.

Product Review: One Click Butter Cutter

If you are like me, you hate buying butter, it's hard to deal with , it's hard to cut, hard to spread, you need to keep it in the fridge or it goes rancid. I never buy it. If you have problems with your hand weakness, butter is definitely a no go, your have to have a real good grip on that knife. (unless the butter is hot) Either way, for many people butter is a pain. We have found a solution!

Book Review: “Cesar’s Way” by Cesar Millan, with Melissa Jo Peltier

Cesar Millan, host of National Geographic Channel’s “Dog Whisperer”, brings his knowledge and technique to millions more through his new book, “Cesar’s Way.” This engaging and comprehensive non-fiction work begins with Cesar’s life story growing up in Mexico and the steps that brought him to such an incredible understanding of dog psychology. It then goes on to detail what behaviour patterns are most common in North American dogs, and how to use his techniques to build a deeper bond with your dog, eliminating dangerous and unwelcome behaviours in the process. He illustrates his points well with stories of how he has helped both ordinary people, and celebrities like Oprah and Jada Pinkett-Smith, to have better relationships with their dogs.

Product Review: Anti Snor Therapeutic Ring

On a scale of one to ten of snoring potential, my husband is probably around a five. He comes from a family of snorers who rate around nines and tens, so I’ve always been grateful that he wasn’t worse. But when you are ill, in pain, and having sleep issues, snoring around a level of five feels pretty significant. Over the years, we’ve tried many different approaches to helping him bring the snoring level down. Allergy medicines, chiropractic adjustments, weight loss, exercise, different sleeping positions, different types of pillows, keeping the room cool/warm, open windows, air cleaners. The only approach that has had a semi-decent positive result is me poking him to roll over. And ear plugs. Don’t forget the ear plugs. I couldn’t have managed to keep sharing a bed with him if it hadn’t been for a constant supply of foam ear plugs.

Personal Essay: It's okay not to smile.

When you suffer from an illness it’s hard to be upbeat all the time. One can’t always smile through the pain or think mind over matter will move a mountain (or even the trash to outside the door). It’s a sad part of life no one ever wants to talk about.

The truth is when your joints hurt and you feel sick 24/7, you don’t much feel like playing congenial all day long. Sure we all try not to be the Wicked Witch of the East everyday, but it’s going to happen; You will get snippy or stubborn. We all do.

Movie Review: Hot Fuzz (2007)

Sergeant Nicholas Angel is a London police officer with an arrest record 400% higher than any other officer. His superiors think he's making them look bad so they transfer him to Sandford, a boring, "crime-free" town. Once there, on his first night there, Angel notices something suspicious in the pub - teenagers drinking. He arrests most of the bar and a drunk trying to get in his car. The next day he finds out that one of the people he arrested, Danny Butterman, is also a police officer and son of Police Chief. Danny is a well-meaning but overeager huge action movie fan and believes Angel to be a real-life "bad boy," who gets in gunfights and car chases. A series of deaths occur and only Angel suspects murder. He uncovers the town secret and has to flee but he returns with an arsenal of weapons.

Movie Review: Wild Hogs (2007)

Four middle-aged men, who belong to a weekend warrior "gang" called the Wild Hogs, feel that they've grown old and lame so one of them talks the group into going on a road trip on motorcycles to become real bikers. They have fun at first, until they meet true bikers in a New Mexico bar belonging to the Del Fuegos biker gang. When the Del Fuegos steal a bike that belongs to the Wild Hogs, one of the Hogs returns to steal their bike back and inadvertently causes the bar to explode. Now the Del Fuegos want revenge!
