2007’s Top Ten “Disability Hygiene” Helper List

These helpful items and ideas will soon become a staple in your home.

1. A long, absorbent, cotton terrycloth robe is soft and can take the place of having to use a towel.

2. Make soap, shampoo, and hair conditioner easier to use and more cost effective by buying a container for each with a pump top. THEN, purchase extra large containers at a discount place and refill your pump containers.

3. Heat and excess humidity increases fatigue in many AI (Auto Immune) illnesses/conditions. Keep your bathroom door half open – it will help.

4. From your local home improvement store, get a “grab bar” and place it on the wall across from your toilet. It helps with both sitting and standing.

5. Get a long handled spoon and attach a sponge or a loofah to it with a rubber band. This helps while cleaning your back.

6. For females needing assistance in cleaning yourself with bladder and bowel problems, get an ordinary spray bottle and keep warm water in it. It works wonderfully!!

7. Another aid for bladder and bowel problems and cleaning, is to use pop-up baby wipes.

8. If you have hemorrhoid problems, the absolute best medicine is called Calmoseptine. It can be found over the
counter at any drug store.

9. Getting a shower/tub plastic chair is a fantastic spoonsaver!!

10. Toothbrush handles can be made easier to grasp by cutting 1-½ inches of a sponge and wrapping it around the handle, securing it with a rubber band.
